You and Me and Him by Kris Dinnison

Image and blurb from Goodreads:

“Do not ignore a call from me when you know I am feeling neurotic about a boy. That is Best Friend 101.” —Nash

Maggie and Nash are outsiders. She’s overweight. He’s out of the closet. The best of friends, they have seen each other through thick and thin, but when Tom moves to town at the start of the school year, they have something unexpected in common: feelings for the same guy. This warm, witty novel—with a clear, true voice and a clever soundtrack of musical references—sings a song of love and forgiveness.

My thoughts:

3.5 "Fresh YA Contemporary" STARS

So, here's the deal. I enjoyed the first half much more than the rest, but that doesn't mean that the second half was bad.

Maggie was a fun, voicy MC, so she made it easy for me to follow her life. I wasn't bored at all. But I can't say the ending was exactly what I was looking for.

At first, I loved Nash and Maggie's friendship. I thought they were fun and fresh, but Nash kind of got on my nerves after a while.

And what can I say about Tom? I liked him and then I didn't and then I did again. I do find it interesting that the author chose to write a non-perfect LI, so I'll give her that.

I've been reading a lot of A/NA romance lately, so it was nice to read a YA Contemporary for a change. And I'm happy I chose this one.
