*Grabby Hands* Blog Tour & Review - By the Hour (Pleasure Principle #2) by Roni Loren

Title: By The Hour
(Pleasure Principle #2)
Author: Roni Loren
Category/Genre: Contemporary Romance

Publication Date: April 25th, 3017
From the New York Times bestselling author of Off the Clock comes a story of love, hate, and the fire that ignites when the two collide...

Dr. Elle McCray has a plan. Work hard. Be the best. And do it alone. After her ex-husband’s betrayal, she’s learned being feared is a hell of a lot easier than being humiliated. So when trouble personified, Lane Cannon, dares to flirt with her, she shuts him down cold. Too gorgeous. Too cocky. And his job as The Grove’s sexual surrogate is to sleep with patients. No, thank you.

Former escort Lane Cannon has spent enough years with people looking down on him. Stupid. Trailer trash. Rent boy. He’s heard it all. He’s worked too hard to shed his past to let some haughty doctor cut him down. But something about Elle’s ice queen act has his dominant instincts perking up and his body taking notice. He can’t walk away.

After an evening of verbal sparring turns into a night of steamy hate sex, Lane’s ready for round two. But Elle proposes a business deal. How better to keep things strictly physical than to pay him for his services?

Lane wants her, not her money. But he’ll play along in exchange for one thing—all the control. It’s only supposed to be a dirty little fling between colleagues, but these two are about to learn a lesson in love…by the hour.

Thank you!!

Okay this book was hot!

I mean, I kind of expected it to be hot because I've heard that's how Roni Loren reads, and I've been meaning to read something by her for a while, but I wasn't really prepared for how HOT it would really be.

This is the second book in a series, but I didn't have a problem following the characters and their journey, so I think it's safe to say you can start with this one. Although if you get the chance, get the other book too, because I'm betting it's just as good as this one.

In By The Hour, we follow doctor Elle and former escort-now-sexual-therapist (correct term is sexual surrogate) Lane as they go from hate sex to making love.

Elle is a bitter woman who got played one too many times--her husband cheated on her and her "fling" left her for another woman. So she's alone and planning on staying that way. She pushes everyone back and she has no interest in making friends, let alone letting another man in her life so he can betray her later.

Lane is a gentle soul with a dominant side in bed. He's a sex expert (former escort, now sexual surrogate) and he isn't afraid to use his sexuality, but he doesn't want to be seen as only a hot body. He's tired of people judging him, thinking him dumb or calling him a whore behind his back.

Elle and Lane have nothing in common, and they don't even like each other, but they agree to hate sex after their chemistry becomes too hard to ignore. Hot, hot, hot hate sex. *fans self*

From then on, we get to follow Elle and Lane have more sex until they're so under each other's skin, they can't shake each other off.

The main thing I noticed about this book was the great voice. Roni Loren did such a good job with Elle and Lane's voice that I sometimes forgot I was reading a third POV book. I also really enjoyed how Lane and Elle were portrayed as opposites, but ended up finding a way to make it work as a couple.

The conflict was believable and made my heart ache for them. I could side with one or the other, because they both had reason to act the way they did. I was also happy with the solution, since the author found a way to keep true to Lane and his arc and still find a solution that made me comfortable.

My only complain is that the internals were sooooo long. There were pages and pages of each character thinking and debating what to do without any dialogue or substantial action.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and thought it delivered on what it promised. I was rooting for Lane and Elle from chapter one, and their chemistry made the story worth reading to me.

Roni wrote her first romance novel at age fifteen when she discovered writing about boys was way easier than actually talking to them. Since then, her flirting skills haven’t improved, but she likes to think her storytelling ability has. If she’s not working on her latest sexy story, you can find her cooking, watching reality television, or picking up another hobby she doesn't need--in other words, procrastinating like a boss. She is a RITA Award winner and a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author.
