Title: Courting the Corporal Author: Heather McCorkle
Genre: Historical Romance Publication Date: June 27th, 2017
May the road rise up to meet you . .
.
The Civil War has ended, but for
Corporal Patrick “Rick” Fergusson the battle rages on. Still
haunted by what he witnessed on the battlefield, the earnest Irishman
is heading west, seeking only to be free of the past. His services
are in high demand; wealthy East Coasters in need of escort clamor to
join him on the journey. But one client, a beautiful lady named Cat,
disturbs Rick’s newfound equilibrium.
High society widow Catriona O’Brian
is anxious to get to California, even if it means traveling with the
handsome corporal who seems to dislike her so. Cat no longer seeks
marriage; she has pinned all her hopes on making it to the west coast
and starting her own winery. Between the elements, wild animals, and
hostile natives, however, everything seems to be conspiring against
her. Time and again, Rick comes to her rescue. And soon, the
independent lass discovers that her biggest obstacle may be the
longing of her own traitorous heart . . .

Title: The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue Author: Mackenzie Lee Category/Genre: Young Adult Historical
Publication Date: June 27th, 2017 Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books
Henry “Monty” Montague was born and bred to be a gentleman, but he was never one to be tamed. The finest boarding schools in England and the constant disapproval of his father haven’t been able to curb any of his roguish passions—not for gambling halls, late nights spent with a bottle of spirits, or waking up in the arms of women or men.
But as Monty embarks on his Grand Tour of Europe, his quest for a life filled with pleasure and vice is in danger of coming to an end. Not only does his father expect him to take over the family’s estate upon his return, but Monty is also nursing an impossible crush on his best friend and traveling companion, Percy.
Still it isn’t in Monty’s nature to give up. Even with his younger sister, Felicity, in tow, he vows to make this yearlong escapade one last hedonistic hurrah and flirt with Percy from Paris to Rome. But when one of Monty’s reckless decisions turns their trip abroad into a harrowing manhunt that spans across Europe, it calls into question everything he knows, including his relationship with the boy he adores.
What is this awesomeness and when do I get more? This book is freaking hilarious and pretty wonderful, too! To be completely honest, I didn't even remember what this book was supposed to be about when I picked it up after waiting long months for its release. I mean, I'm pretty sure I read the blurb once upon a time, but then I only remembered that I wanted to read it and not why. Well, it didn't matter. It didn't even matter that after a while into the story the plot wasn't even clear. The lack of clarity plot-wise would've made me want to stop reading if we were talking about a different story, but how could I stop when the main character's voice was that amazing? Monty was hilarious in a natural, almost "I have no idea how funny I am" kind of way. The narrative reminded me of My Lady Jane, another hilarious historical, and pulled me from page one. I followed Monty, Percy (his BFF and the love of his life) and Felicity's (his sister) adventure on their Grand Tour of Europe with a smile that refused to die. I probably looked pretty silly whenever I was reading, and I deserve a prize for all the times I swallowed my laughter on the bus while strangers stared at me for silently laughing at my Kindle. This is a prettier version of me reading this book:
Monty was the star of the show, but let's not forget Felicity and Percy. Percy was adorable. Just freaking adorable. He was perfect for Monty because they were so different, but had that kind of strong bond that comes from knowing the other person their entire lives. And the tension... the freaking tension!?!?!?! I can't even.
All I'm going to say is I SHIPPED IT from the very start.
Now, Felicity, dear Felicity, you awesome human being who kicked asses even though people tried to say you couldn't kick ass because you were a girl... Felicity was awesome. Felicity stitched herself up because the two guys with her were too scared to do so. She freaking stitched herself up, people! I don't care about anything, because Felicity was a badass.
I also loved the "pirates" and how they became such an important part of the story, and their leader played a big part in helping Monty with his personal journey! Basically, I loved all the characters.
The plot itself was still a little meh for me, but I didn't care all that much because Monty's narrative kept me entertained and I wanted to see what badass Felicity would do next, and what adorable thing Percy would do, and I needed to be there for when the freaking ship finally sailed (=KISSING!!!) and all that. The only thing I wished had been a bit different was Monty's arc. While I did think he learned a lot, I still thought he was rather immature in the end. Monty was one of those characters that made it too easy to love his because of how funny he was, but whenever another character pointed out his flaws, they were so obvious I couldn't help but cringe a little. Like I said, there was character growth. He made decisions in the end of the book he wouldn't have in the beginning, but I still didn't think it was enough. Other than that, this was a pretty amazing story. If you loved My Lady Jane, then you'll probably love this one, too. If you haven't read My Lady Jane yet, then I don't know what you're waiting for. Grab both books and enjoy!

is a prolific word weaver of romance, fantasy, and science fiction
novels. Her works include the series Postcards from Paris, The
Surrogate, The Curse of Lanval series, several stand alone novels,
and her upcoming YA novel, Clock City. She has been writing her whole
life, with her first published work of historical fiction with 4H
Clubs of America at the age of 12, and poetry at the age of 16 with
the National Poetry Society. With an extensive academic background
including education, history, psychology and English, she currently
works as a college professor by day and a writer by night.
A.
Nicky Hjort
is originally from Arlington, Texas- the second of five siblings, all
of whom have strong creative talents. She currently lives in coastal
central California where she practices medicine as an Ob/GYN. In
between being a lovingly devoted mother and delivering babies, she
writes stories that cross multiple genre lines- from Sci Fi to high
fantasy, but all of her stories have thriller and strong romantic
components. And for her clever reader, all of her manuscripts are
subtly connected to each other, with their purpose to explore all
facets of Love and Light. She likes to say that her stories write
themselves, and in the process, often write her, or at least the next
version of her hoping to emerge. A lover of all the arts, A. Nicky
Hjort hopes her stories might inspire you to find your inner creative
genius.
As
for her heroes- they are as varied and eclectic as her choice of
narrative genres, but when pushed to list her favorite influences,
she would say James Patterson, Barbara Kingsolver, Patricia Cornwell,
Dean Koonntz, Gene Roddenberry, Shel Silverstein, Suzanne Collins,
and Walt Disney.
Anyone
who knows me could tell you, I am a friendly kind of person, never
met a stranger and take up conversations any where at any time. I
work hard, and my mind never seems to shut down, as I wake up often
in the middle of the night with ideas pouring out and demanding to be
dealt with. Of course that means much of my books were written in the
middle of the night.
I
grew up and still live in the great state of Texas where everything
is bigger, where we have warm weather and a central location. I love
my state, my town, and my family, which includes my four sons, my
significant other, and many friends as well.
I
have thoroughly enjoyed writing the books that are currently
available and hope you will enjoy reading them just as much. And of
course, there will be many more stories to come.

Aubree
lives in the beautiful foothills of Northern California with her
husband, two wonderful sons, and a super special peek-a-poo named

one of her favorite vacation spots ranging anywhere from Lake Tahoe
to Maui.
Her

Kristen
Luciani
is a bestselling author and self-proclaimed momtrepreneur with a
penchant for stilettos, Silicon Valley, plunging necklines and
grapefruit martinis. As a deep-rooted romantic who prefers juicy
drama to fill the lives of anyone other than her, she tried her hand
at creating a world of enchantment, sensuality, and intrigue, finally
uncovering her true passion. No pun intended…
I
am very stubborn and independent. I have a big heart and I love
children. One of the reasons why I chose to contribute to the Shades
of Fear Anthology is because it was for a charity that would
help children with cancer. I had a very unstable childhood; my father
was an alcoholic and my mother abandoned me. Thank goodness for my
grandparents. My grandfather, who is now 78, is still a big part of
my life. My son and I help take care of him. We are simple southern
folk who enjoy collard greens and fried chicken on Sundays.
L.A.
Remenicky is a wife and mother of two fur kids. A payroll
professional by day, she writes out the stories in her head by night.
An
avid reader all her life, she finally put pen to paper (or fingers to
keyboard) during NaNoWriMo in 2012 and has never looked back. When
she’s not typing away on her latest story with music playing in the
background, she can usually be found spending time with her family
and friends.
I
have been writing since I was sixteen years old and love to write
both horror and romantic suspense. I think there have been many
influences within my life that has set me on the path that I can not
help but walk. A few of those names consist of Karen Rose, Lisa
Gardener, Nora Roberts, Cynthia Eden, Catherine Anderson, Laura
Griffin, Andrea Kane, and Lisa Jackson, just to name a few. This list
by no means defines by own writing but they have indeed influenced my
desire to live outside of my own world and to create the thrill of my
dreams. I live on 40 + acres in the SHOW ME state with my six year
old daughter, with the wonderful addition of four dogs and a handful
of chickens. The weather is unpredictable, but the surrounding beauty
of the country helps my creativity as I sit on my top deck with my
laptop and coffee close by.
Unexplored
possibilities and impossibilities have always fascinated Taya Wood.
As a child she would stargaze most nights, wondering about the
universe and imagining how things used to be, are, and could be in
the future, so writing speculative fiction was inevitable.
Having
spent her former years as a graphic designer and life coach and then
running a business assisting creative people to earn a living, Taya
now writes magic realism and paranormal fantasy.
She
lives in an eco house in a forest with her husband, several
kingfishers and kookaburras, a fishpond, some water dragons and a
very large goanna.
